With the last service at the chapel, on 7 June 2004, the era of Marienhöh as a cloister came to an end…
…but not the story of Marienhöh!
Peace, nature, relaxation. As early as the beginning of the last century two well-off ladies from Koblenz recognized the value of the idyllic property and had children’s home built there. In 1927 it was purchased by the city of Oberhausen. Thousands of children in need of rest and relaxation regained health and happiness here.
After the war the house was used by the Trier branch of the St. Borromeo Sisters for the care of elderly persons. In 1951children’s relaxation regained top priority. The Catholic order of nuns, Sisters of Mary, bought the facility and further extended it.
For 50 years the villagers of Langweiler lived together in a close symbiosis with the Cloister Marienhöh, until in 2002 it was abandoned by the Sisters of Mary. With the last service at the chapel, on 7 June 2004, the era of Marienhöh as a cloister came to an end. But not the story of Marienhöh!
At the end of 2004 the private real estate company BonnVisio purchased the land and all buildings and had a new vision: To offer persons seeking relaxation a very special hotel, in the midst of beautiful nature and pure air. The Kloster Hotel Marienhöh.
On 1 May 2009 Marienhöh opened as a golf, hiking and family hotel under the leadership of
Jan Bolland as Managing Director and Hotel Director. Besides the “Klosterhotel” he also manages „BollAnt’s im Park“ – Romantik Hotel & Vital SPA in Bad Sobernheim on the Nahe River, a Wellness and Health Resort that has received multiple awards. Another member of the BollAnt‘s-Group is the „Günderodehaus“ on the Rhine river, a unique getaway location above Oberwesel in the World Heritage Middle Rhine.
